How did you and Tom meet?
Tom and I met in high school 13 years ago. We have been dating since freshman year!
How did you get engaged?
We got engaged on Lake Michigan on a pretty walking trail. It was so gorgeous with the water, sand, and nature around us. We love the outdoors and nature in general.
Did you enjoy wedding planning? What was your favorite part?
I loved wedding planning! I did not have a wedding planner and did a lot of DIY projects. It was a lot of work, but I can truly say it was all worth it. My favorite part was seeing my vision and dreams turn into reality. Taharaa let us set up ourselves the two nights before the wedding allowing me to see the space, map out what looked best and make it exactly what I wanted. I loved working on all the little details.
What was your inspiration during planning?
My inspiration was the mountains, of course! Being in the Rocky Mountains and tying the knot at Taharaa was so magical. I tied in natural elements such as flowers, succulents, Moss and gems/ minerals to really give the indoors a feeling of the outdoors.
What made you decide on Taharaa Mountain Lodge for your wedding?
My husband, Tom and I were driving and exploring up in Estes Park one day when we were engaged and saw Taharaa on the road we were driving on. Tom pulled off and drove up the driveway of Taharaa. As we pulled up we were in love. Between the gorgeous wood cabin vibe and the views, it truly felt meant to be. We rang the doorbell and the staff was kind and toured us around the facility. We weren’t touring venues that day, but it appeared and was the perfect fit for us.
What was your favorite part about having a Colorado Rocky Mountain wedding?
Tom and my favorite part of having a Colorado Rocky Mountain wedding was having all our friends and family join in our most happy place in the entire world. Our wedding was all out of state guests (Michigan, New York, California, Florida, Virginia and more) and everyone had an amazing time in Colorado. The Rocky Mountains are not too challenging to travel to and most family and friends who traveled made it into a week vacation. It was so sweet having all our loved ones come to the mountains and enjoy the views.
